Why we started BLS Financial

Back in 2000, financial advice felt like it was only for wealthy people or came with a hard sell. I kept seeing everyday Australians putting off important financial decisions because they thought advisers were either too expensive, too complicated, or too pushy.

That didn’t sit right with me.

I started BLS Financial to create something different – a place where people could get straightforward financial advice in plain English, without the jargon or pressure.

Over 25 years later, that’s still what drives us. We work with regular Bendigo locals who are navigating life’s big financial moments — inheritance, retirement, redundancy, aged care for parents.

We’re not here to sell you products. We’re here to help you sort out your finances so you can stop worrying and start living.

Here’s something we’ve learned over 25 years: you can’t fix a financial problem in isolation. When you’re looking at inheritance options, your super matters. What to expect when you work with BLS Financial

We keep things simple. Here’s how it works from first meeting to ongoing relationship.

Book a time that suits you. Come in for coffee at our View Street office (we’ve got a kids’ playroom if you need it). We’ll talk about your situation, what’s on your mind, and whether we’re a good fit to work together. No paperwork, no obligation, no pressure. Just a conversation to see if we can help.

If we move forward, we’ll need to understand your full financial picture. That means asking questions about super, insurance, debts, goals, family situation, what you’re worried about, what you’re planning for – everything. It’s not us being nosy. It’s us making sure we see the whole picture so we don’t miss something important that could affect your financial decisions.

Once we understand where you are and where you want to be, we’ll put together a comprehensive plan that addresses everything – not just the one thing you came in about. We’ll explain it all in plain English, show you what needs to happen and why, walk you through the options, and make sure you understand everything before we take any action.

We’ll handle the paperwork, chase up loose ends, follow through on every action item, and tick things off your list. No disappearing after giving advice – we see it through. Then we’ll stay in touch through regular reviews, making adjustments as your life changes. Most of our clients have been with us for years. We’re in this for the long term, not just a one-off transaction.
